The Resistance
Resistance to the military coup in Chile started
in New York almost inmediately, when a group
of Chileans from New York and New Jersey
formed the “Chilenos antifascistas” (Antifascist
Chileans) in the fall of 1973. Other groups
formed, each representing a faction of the
political spectrum that was Chile. But in the end
they all came under the umbrella of “Chile
Democrático” (Democratic Chile,) which
coordinated most of the activities.

En el área de Nueva York la resistencia al golpe
militar en Chile comenzó casi de inmediato
cuando un grupo de chilenos de Nueva York y
Nueva Jersey fundaron el grupo “Chilenos
antifascistas” en el otoño de 1973. Otros
grupos se crearon representando otras
facciones del espectro político de Chile. Pero al
final, todos aceptaron trabajar bajo el alero de
“Chile Democrático”, que coordinó la mayor
parte de las actividades.
