NEW YORK (SEPTEMBER 18, 2008) - The news

came in an e-mail. Humberto Solas, one of Cuba's

brightest and most outstanding figures, had died of

cancer at age 66 in Havana. It was also a very

personal loss, since Humberto an I had become close

friends during his trips to New York.
