NEW YORK (APRIL 22, 2009) -  It was and opportunity not to be

missed. Te see and hear Evo Morales, the President of Bolivia. His

election was and even bigger historical event than Barack Obama's

and regardless of what one thinks of his politics, he is a charismatic

and towering figure in Latin America. But it was not to happen. When

word finally came that he was not coming because of his health,

there was palpable disappointment in the audience.

perderse. Ver y escuchar a Evo Morales, el presidente de Bolivia. Su

elección fue un evento histórico aún mayor que la elección de

Barack Obama y cualesquiera que sea la opinión personal de su

política, Morales es una figura carismática y enorme en América

Latina. Pero no estaba destinado a suceder. Cuando finalmente se

supo que no vendría debido a su salud, la desilución fue palpable.
