NEW YORK (JUNE 22-25, 2009) - Just about a year ago, my

daughter Veronica, from my first marriage, died after a prolonged

illness. This year, her husband, Michael, Erik, her oldest, his wife

Michelle, and their two children, Christian and Aiden, came to New

York to visit and see what New York was all about. Although there

was some sadness because Veronica was not with us, the visit was a

tremendous success. We cooked in the house, went to Grand

Central, the Staten Island Ferry, Times Square and many other

places that make New York what it is. My daughter Catalina came

from her house in New Jersey with her two children, Tyler and

Carinna. Ingrid took us to a barbecue restaurant, Carlota and Marco

were all over the place with them and we had a wonderful Chilean

dinner at Pomaire. Finally, on Thursday night, we went to listen to

Brian Mitchell (Carlota's boyfriend) at the Parkside Lounge in the

Lower East Side. If only Veronica had been with us.

NUEVA YORK (JUNI0 22-25, 2009) - Hace justo un año que mi hija

Verónica, de mi primer matrimonio, falleció después de una larga

enfermedad. Este año su esposo Michael, su hijo Erik (el mayor), su

esposa Michelle y sus dos hijos, Christian y Aiden, vinieron de visita

a Nueva York para ver como es en realidad esta Gran Manzana.

Aunque había tristeza por la ausencia de Verónica, la visita fue un

tremendo éxito. Cocinamos en la casa, fuimos a la Grand Central, el

Ferry de Staten Island, Times Square y muchos otros lugares que

hacen de Nueva York lo que es. Mi hija Catalina vino desde su casa

en Nueva Jersey con sus dos hijos, Tyler y Carinna. Ingrid vino

desde Long Island y nos llevó a un restaurante de barbacoa. Carlota

y Marco anduvieron con ellos por todas partes y tuvimos un

estupenda comida chilena en el Restaurante Pomaire. Finalmente,

el jueves por la noche fuimos al Parkside Lounge en Loisaida a

escuchar a Brian Mitchell (novio de Carlota). Si sólo hubiera estado

Verónica.
