went back to Chile after a two month visit to the US where she
exhibited some of her work in Pittsburg, Pennsylvania, and Reno,
Nevada. She also visited friends in Connecticut and upstate New
York. An acomplished artist with fabrics she also took the opportunity
to take a gazillion photographs while in the US with her new Nikon
5000 (you can see her own pictures in Facebook.) Abril is the oldest
daughter of my poet brother Jorge with feminist writer Pía Barros,
both quite succesful in Chile. Both exhibitions were well recieved
and she is planning to return soon to the US, specially to the Big
Apple, whis totally captivated her and where she visited just about
every major museum and gallery.

NUEVA YORK (JUNIO 11, 2010) - Mi sobrina Abril Montealegre
Barros regresó a Chile después de una visita a los EE.UU. de dos
meses, donde exhibió su obra artística en Pittsburg, Pennsylvania y
en Reno, Nevada. También visitó amistades en Connecticut y en el
norte del estado de Nueva York. Una exitosa artista que usa el tejido
como parte de su obra, también aprovechó de tomar varios miles de
fotos con su nueva Nikon 5000 (pueden ver sus fotos en Facebook).
Abril es la hija mayor de mi hermano peta Jorge y la escritora
feminista Pía Barros, ambos reconocidos artistas chilenos. Ambas
exposiciones fueron bien recibidas y Abril planea volver pronto a los
EE.UU., especialmente la Gran Manzana, que la cautivó
completamente y donde visitó practicamente todos los museos y
galerías más importantes.
